I think competitiveness is an underrated quality in founders/CEOs.
One of the qualities that seems most correlated with business success is competitiveness. This isn't true of non-founder executives. The most successful non-founder executives often have the best credentials, are the most polished, the best politically, etc. They can be great employees. But the best founders are intensely competitive. They just do not want to lose. Intelligence, business savvy, etc are all necessary but insufficient.
